Hvorfor har vi aldersgrense på LABUBU?

Security and openness – a little chat

I was actually interviewed by the local newspaper a while ago after we discovered pirated copies in the local area. It was a reminder of how easy it is to be fooled when something “looks right” in a picture – but isn’t in reality.

Customer: “Okay, straight to the point… is this a toy?”

Ivar: No. This is not a toy – it is a collector's item , decoration and lifestyle accessory. And that is exactly why we are clear about age and use.

Customer: “But why do you write so clearly 'not for children' when many others don't?”

Ivar: Because we are a serious, tax-paying, Norwegian company – and we take responsibility. For us, this is not about “hype” or a quick sale. We are here for the long haul . When you operate properly, you also have to inform properly.

Therefore, this is clearly stated by us:

The products supplied by Products By Nordvik ENK are not intended for use by children under the age of 14. The products are to be considered collectibles, decorative display items or fashion and lifestyle accessories. It is emphasized that these products should not be given to or used by children under the age of 14.

Customer: “So you guys are trying to be 'strict'?”

Ivar: We try to be responsible . These are products with small parts – and there should be no room for misunderstandings. That is why we also use clear Norwegian additional labeling where relevant: not a toy , not suitable for children , and choking hazard – small parts .

Customer: “Okay… but is it safe?”

Ivar: Yes – and here we are actually a bit proud: We have chosen to pay for independent laboratory tests (EN 71) on submitted samples. We do not like the “trust me” culture. We like documentation. At the same time, the main point still applies: this is not for small children , primarily because of small parts.

Customer: “But why are you making such a fuss about copies and fakes?”

Ivar: Because real people are being scammed – and often without realizing it until the product is on the table. We see it again and again: the price is “too good”, the packaging looks almost right, and then you end up with something completely different.

And it’s not just an “annoying” issue. When it comes to replicas, you often don’t know the materials, manufacturing, traceability or quality. And when small parts can come loose – that’s when it becomes a real safety concern.

Customer: “But how do I know I’m buying real?”

Ivar: I usually say it like this: Traceability beats everything. Is there a proper importer with a name and contact info? Are age markings and warnings clear? Do they actually have control over what they sell – or is it just “we think it’s real”?

With us you get a Norwegian player who takes this seriously: We work with requirements, documentation and customer service – and we deliver from Norway. We are proud to contribute to the local economy and safe trade, and we want you to be able to shop with peace of mind.

Are you unsure before you buy? Send us a message. We will answer specifically.
